Our Mission

The Good Samaritan Food Pantry Inc. is open as an emergency food pantry to feed needy people on an emergency basis for as long as this service is needed or the pantry is able to provide.

Our History

Formed in 1995 by Pat and Bill Burris, The Good Samaritan Food Pantry Inc. has continued to assist residents of our service area in obtaining emergency food provisions. In 2018 the Pantry served nearly 5,900 people and over 48,000 meals including a complete Thanksgiving meal that could be prepared at home. The pantry is operated by volunteers from our community without any compensation. With the support and guidance of the trustees and director The Good Samaritan Food Pantry Inc. is committed in "helping to fill the gap" for those in need.

The Susan Maggard Thanksgiving Dinner Project

After more than 20 years as the director of The Good Samaritan Food Pantry Inc., Susan Maggard past away unexpectedly. As the director, Susan ran the "behind the scenes" part of the pantry and it took the entire board of trustees to fill her shoes. One of Susan's visions was to provide our clients with a complete Thanksgiving dinner to prepare at home and enjoy with family and loved ones. It is in Susan's honor that we have named this Thanksgiving meal giveaway
